Hello.

My name is Solveig. 

I just got my innards and hair last night.  I dreamed of being a redhead, but short of having to have a real honest to goodness dye job, that wasn't going to happen.  I'm actually sort of glad I didn't have to settle for lavender hair. It was close.  I don't mind being a Scandinavian blond.  Just don't tell me any blond jokes.  I'm actually very intelligent.

Now that all my parts are in order, I can concentrate on finding a way to stowaway to Iceland.  I have a mission.

You see, the love of my life, Lars, was separated from me when I was just a pile of spindrift scraps.  How I miss him.  I think we might have some kind of an Icelandic connection, and I intend to find out.   Eeep!  The plane leaves in less than three weeks!!!  And somehow, I'm going to manage to be on it.

Please note:  I'm wearing a wedding cap!!!

Little Miss Dotty....

Hello world.  My name is Dotty.  Am I cute, or what?!?

 

oops.  Excuse me.

My new furry friend, Freddy...knocked me over....and my bloomers and bunny tail are showing.  Please note.  That IS a bunny tail.  I'm definitely a bunny.

I might look just a teeny bit like some other critter..a mouse with big ears maybe?  But I'm not.  I'm definitely a bunny.  I'm definitely a girl.  I'm most definitely pretty darn cute (so says my new mom who made me).  

She's already warned me that I will most likely be adopted someday, but until then, I'm going to enjoy my new surroundings and maybe beg for a couple more dresses.  It's Sunday, so I'm in my Sunday School best dress, but this isn't going to cut it if I go outside later to play in the mud.  I could probably use some overalls.

If you haven't had a chance to try one of Julie Williams's toy patterns you are in for a treat.  They look somewhat daunting when you print them out.  14 or 15 pages of the MOST meticulously written pattern you will ever encounter.  This is my second....boy elephant was my first and he's incredibly cute, too.  (He's still here...I can't seem to give him up for adoption even though he'd make a really cute gift with a Babar book!)

Last week I got a Ravelry update for the girl bunny pattern...new faces and a little facelift, so guess what?

Dotty will soon have a friend.

Lars, Lars, Lars.  I'm afraid you haven't left room for Thanksgiving dinner.....and I'm NOT knitting you another, roomier sweater.  You have a couple weeks.  Time for some serious exercising, or you will be banned from the Turkey Day table.

Lars (aka Sven...from Carol Anderson) was a very fun little project.  Followed by Black Tea (Thea Colman) which is still blocking.  Two finished projects this week!

I wonder how many I could have finished if I hadn't spent an inordinate amount of time....

Young Lars.  Look how skinny he is!  Flat is actually a better word...flat as Flat Stanley.  With cheeks and chin totally whisker-free.  Something tells me that the aging process is going to take a toll on both.  

I'm hoping as he ages, his sense of style will improve.  Fashionista he is NOT.  I tried to tell him that just because there is blue in both his hat and his sweater....this did not mean that those two garments went together.  My suggestion fell on deaf ears.  

Maybe he IS deaf?  

He did acknowledge that he knows his red mitts don't really match anything.  But, apparently his mom has always insisted he wear red mittens so he can find them when he drops them in the snow.  Now, this makes sense to me.  I guess the red mittens can stay.

I wonder if he'll still be able to sit....

after he has a couple meals and a big Thanksgiving dinner?

meet lars...

When the weather turned chilly last weekend, I couldn't wait to dive into my WIPs and dig out a sweater.  Idlewild by Julie Hoover was dragged out.  The back was already done!  Happy dance.  I actually marked where I was on the pattern.  Happy, happy dance.  I could recover one of my favorite stitch markers and some of my favorite addi lace needles if I finished this.  Happy, happy, happy dance.  A couple repeats of the pattern and I've shoved this back in the closet. I'm thinking about trading out the stitch marker.

Distracted....again.  (It's really hard having the attention span of a gnat.  We've had this discussion before, right?)

Two--three months ago I signed up for a photography trip to Iceland....December 2018.  And this is just about all I can think about.  I should have dragged out the Icelandic sweater I'm working on....

instead, I started....Lars.

  He's very excited to be going to Iceland.  In fact, he's been looking at cameras so he can participate in the workshop...even though he doesn't have any hands yet.  I've been trying to tell him that the verdict is still out on whether he's actually going on this trip.  He's wearing a BLUE sweater...reason enough to leave him home.  And then, we have my attention span thing going on. What kind of a guarantee is there that he'll even be in any shape to travel, although with 13 months to go I supposed I shouldn't squelch his wanderlust excitement quite yet.

I might have to knit his hands last, though, or he'll have his bags packed before I do.
