I think the knitting-blahs are just about over.  (I knit vanilla socks during the knitting blahs.) I feel a case of startitis coming on.

Small flower mitts jumped on my needles last night.  A lovely little pattern designed by Leigh Miller, and written up by Ann Myhre (in both Norwegian and English).  Colorwork still frustrates me at times.  I know once I tighten up the dangling ends and block it, this mitt will look terrific, but until then it looks sloppy.  Color selection is a bit tricky since I'm just using leftovers.

Who am I kidding?  Plenty of choices.  I'm just not good at that, either.  I already see three or four combinations that might work better than what I'm using now.  Decisions.  Decisions.

Bleacher sitting is putting a crimp into my plan for a blissful stretch of monogamous knitting on the Tokyo Shawl.  The shawl is too big, too hot, and the yarn too delicate to subject it to the dust, dirt, and heat of the ball fields.  

The Berries and Branches beret was finished last week, and par for the course, I wasn't armed with a new thought-through project when it was time to dash out the door for this week's double-header.  (How did I get two kids to all their practices and games and homework and dinner and laundry when I can't get myself out the door to just plop myself in the stands before the first pitch?  I'm lucky to get there before the first inning is over.....and yes.  The grands notice if I'm late.)

So, I grabbed two skeins of Dale Baby Ull and a couple needles.  And just started knitting.  I think the hat turned out pretty cute, so I'm sharing it here.  It's also on my Ravelry page here.

Baby triangle pattern

CO 88 stitches with main color. With #2 16” needles, (k3, p1) around… for 4”, then double cuff it, catching the cast on stitches with live stitches.

Switch to #3 needles. (16”) 
Pattern:
Rows 1-2: k3 (MC), k5 (CC)….. 
Rows 3-4: k5 (MC), k3 (CC)…. 
Rows 5-6: K7 (MC), k1 (CC)…

Repeat rows 1-6 four times.

Shape crown….switching to dps when needed. 
K6, k2tog….around 
K5, k2tog… 
K4, k2tog… 
k3, k2tog… 
k2, k2tog… 
k1, k2tog… 
k2tog…. 
pull yarn through remaining stitches.

Add big pompom!
