Hello, mitered square blanket #4.
You know, you weren't supposed to exist. I swore off fingering-weight blankets after mitered-square blanket #3. Actually, truth be told, I was done with them after #2....at which point, I divided up ALL the small balls left over and sent them (literally) around the world.
What is it about fingering weight yarn? I LOVE IT! Socks. Shawls. Sweaters. And, yes. Blankets. But, because, I've divested myself of leftovers---several times over---this blanket really WILL be a lifelong project. I think it might have been blanket #2 that was the recipient of a Ravelry friend's box of leftovers. (Hi, Lisa!!!) I literally started hyperventilating when that treasure arrived!!! Blanket #2 flew off the needles. There really IS something to having a new colour to look forward to with each square.
But, THIS blanket is down to MY leftovers. Mainly, superwash sock (which shows how old it is because I'm trying harder to be more environmentally correct, and superwash doesn't fit that category). Every once in a while, I'd like to add a new colour....so.....I HAVE to knit something from the stash, right? So I can add to the scrap pile, right?
I started Antarktis last night. (According to Rav...it's my second one, but I have no recollection whatsoever of having knit this before!!!!)...
It'll be a while before teal appears in the blanket.
In rummaging around to find a couple new colours...look what I found!
Cascade Vest. I might run out of black before this is done. Can't afford to sneak in a square or two. I'm seriously cutting this project close.
I know. They look alike. They aren't. This is Santa Fe Wrap.
It will certainly run out of yarn, but after I reorder, I might (might) have some leftovers.
BUT THEN.....I discovered THIS!!!
IT'S!A!HUGE!BAG!FULL!OF!PALETTE!...that would work well with my even bigger HUGE!BAG!OF!SPINDRIFT!LEFTOVERS!!!!!
All wool. Check. All single colour (no variegated). Check! Who cares if the spindrift is slightly heavier than the palette? How do I know this?
Hello, mitered square blanket #5.
With all of the exclamation points, I feel like Freddie wrote this.

OHG, you are one amazing knitter, I'm not sure, no I know I couldn't get through one miter blanket let alone a 4th or 5th. Hear you are having lots of snow...great times for tucking in and knitting-enjoy!

Whew! I can't believe you are doing another one! I believe I was one of the recipients of your leftovers after number 2. My blanket is currently the size of a small shawl, and I've given up on knitting little diamonds. The constant turning the work makes me cray-cray, so I've switched to crochet. Ha! That rhymes! I'm doing a crochet linen stitch and it takes for.ev.er. before I need to turn it. ;-)

All the pictures of your yarn are dreamy! Such pretty yarn and colors. I like yarn, all kinds, but since I have discovered my love of sock yarn it's got my heart in a vice. I have decided to save the scraps of my Christmas sock yarn for a someday, one day Christmas sock yarn square blanket. hehe. btw. I knit Antarktis too. I don't remember where it is, but I really enjoyed the knit and the outcome, despite all that.

What a delightful group of yarny photos!
I haven't done one of the mitered square blankets ... yet, but I certainly have enough sock yarn to do quite a few.
And do I spy a Leftovers Cowl? That's a project I do want to get to.

These yarny photos are glorious on a gray winter day. I love to look at the sock yarn blankets. I have been tempted to dip my toes in the mitered square thing and make a large warm scarf. I now have three projects on the needles and that should be enough for me but . . .

but of course! I love fingering as well, and I ate up all of mine for my last blanket! You have a great color combining skills :)

Oh wow you have some amazing projects on the go! My latest blanket was made with chunky yarn, there's no way I would manage a fingering weight one, let alone 5. You're an amazing knitter.
