I wrote three blog posts this week....and trashed them all.
The first one complained about the heat.
The second complained about the rain.
The third (if you must know, my favorite!! it really was a hum-dinger!!!) complained about the mosquitoes.
If I'm going to complain (obviously, I'm in that kind of mood), I'm going to complain about something over which I have a bit of control.
My knitting. (or lack, thereof.)
I have a dozen (yes, 12!) lovely projects on my needles, and according to my Ravelry page, all 'active'. Go ahead and check it out. Great projects. Every single one of them.
I've been looking at this one setting on my desk for weeks. (I even found a cute little basket to hold the pattern, stitch counter, and pencil for it...that all fit nicely in that unused corner.)
It's become part of the decor.
One of my favorite baskets...by the fireplace in the living room... has sort of a theme going on in it. The Chatham yarn in two weights..one skyp sock finished and a shawl started (which I think I have failed to list in Ravelry which brings the 'active' total to an even baker's dozen.) I'm thinking Cape Cod...cool evenings, cozied up by a fire... (which isn't happening any time soon in THIS heat!!!)
My Icelandic cardi has nestled itself in the corner of the kitchen. Of course, it has. The Plotulopi yarn is the warmest to knit with, so naturally it has found it's way to the warmest spot in the house.
Flaum has been living in a bowl in the family room.
Don't you like the way the grey plays off the redware and complements the collection of old pottery?
Are you seeing the same trend I am? I used to think of my decorating 'style' as primitives with a gardening theme. But, it appears it's quickly becoming 'Early American unfinished knitting Projects'.
The only thing I've actually been knitting on lately has been...
the sock yarn blanket....
only because it hasn't (yet) found a suitable place to 'decorate'.
I'm spending the afternoon 'undecorating'...
maybe, then, I'll actually finish a few things.
They all fit so well with their surroundings tho, it might be a shame to finish them. You'd need to cast on something new to decorate each space. Also the blanket's looking great! I'm almost at the halfway mark on mine. (It's been 6 years. I'm hoping to speed up for the second half.)

Complaining is one of my favorite pastimes. It is highly underrated.

Heh- often times I have to scrap blog posts due to it coming off as a big ole' whine-fest. I say complaining about the heat and mosquitoes are worthy things to complain about.
I love all your projects and adore that bag that is holding your Icelandic sweater.

Oh, how I wish you had posted those three complaining blogs!! The only one I don't have in common with you is rain. But the mosquitoes and the heat - yuck. This new back yard we have is low and water from any source - the neighbor's sprinkler system that has gone amuck and runs for hours or any drop of rain we might get sits there. And the mosquitoes love it. We've put sand down in hopes of limiting the pooling, but it hasn't done much. And I'm not spraying back there because of Ruby. So, dear friend, I've posted a whining blog on your comments section!! Please don't block my name from your comments. I'll only be positive next time. Promise.
Happy day, k

I love that you keep projects around the home, perfect decorating for a Knitter!

Early American unfinished knitting decor! I love it. The blanket looks great.

I chuckled all the way through this delightful post. I'm quite smitten with both your yarn bowls, even if the second one in your family room is a 'regular' bowl like mine are! I can hardly wait to see the Icelandic cardi finished! I bet you say that too :-D Happy knitting, no matter which one you are working on! Today's visit was the cheer I needed.

Knitting that is left lying around the house drives my husband nuts. Yours is so beautiful, I think I will live vicariously through you!

I definitely understand-I've got projects littered all over the place, and many of them feel much more like decor than an actual knitting project!

I have worked diligently this summer on reducing the number of WIPs, which I have had some success with (yay!) Now, seasons are getting ready to change and I am itching to cast on all.the.things!! Perhaps knitting is cyclical - cast on, let maturate, finish, repeat. :)

I just wish I could include the 'finish' in my knitting cycle!!!!!

I highly approve of WIPs as home decor, especially when stored in such pretty containers. At least they are readily available for spur of the moment knitting. The heat has returned here, too.

I am casting on another project and I have many swirling in my head but not cast on. I love that part the best, the cast on frenzy. You have pretty projects and your home is beautiful. I would complain about the HEAT and the SUMMER dragging on....

That sock yarn blanket is a real stunner! So pretty.

I would LOVE to leave yarn bowls everywhere. My cats are far more interested in wool than paper!

You made me smile. My projects are in project bags, which is apparently my mode of decorating all the side tables in my house!
