When I don't know what to knit....I knit socks. I have a rather obscene number of socks (three drawers full), I have given away that many if not more, and am now working to fill hubby's drawers (yes, that plural was intentional). I apparently live in that knitting-world-of-indecision quite a bit.
So, I felt rather confident when asked to teach a sock class for a new knit shop in town. Of course, I needed a handout, right? This is going to be a 'concept' class, not a simple 'project-follow-the-pattern' class; the handout had to reflect that. The next thing I knew, my handout had turned into a color-coded anatomy chart for the class's itty-bitty sock sample (The shop where I'm teaching is The Itty Bitty Knit Shop---had to stick with the theme, right?!?) as well as a full size worsted weight sock.
At the moment, it looks as if you need a PhD to decipher it. I should perhaps adjust it a bit. But, I leave for Brimfield (antique and flea market) in the morning....anyone else going???
I've got the most important stuff packed.
If you are there...I'll be easy to find. I'll be the one knitting socks, what else?
I love concept classes, they always offer so much space for experimenting! I am sure you will be a great instructor and I would love to take your sock class!

I knit socks too when I don't know what to knit :)
And both mine and hubby's drawers are filled to the brim... So my sister is getting a lot of socks and my oldest son who also loves to wear handknit socks. My other two kids have not joined us, yet.
Love your drawing. I'm sure it was a great class for those who joined!

That regia yarn is so beautiful!
I'm back in sock knitting for good. Remember what I'm dreaming of? A drawer full of hand knitted socks! Sure everybody who is taking your class will want a drawer of his own ;-)

I always have a few pairs of socks on the needles. One that's mindless and at least one that is a little more interesting.
I love your itty-bitty socks, and I think they make perfect sense.
Isn't it amazing how the great new sock yarns just keep on coming!

I really love your drawing, it's intricate but very clear to read and understand. Not that I can knit, mind you, but it looks good to me. I think you must be an excellent knitting teacher.

This sounds great! I love the photos of your prep work/works in progress! I believe there should always be socks on the needles. I don't have a lot of pairs, but they give me some joy to knit and they give me such joy to give away. :)

VERY fun with your class, Steph!! :) Sock knitting is one knitting frontier I've not manage to traverse yet. All those needles, so fiddly, and not matter what I get those "ladders" between needles while working the rounds. :( I lately came across some patterns using magic look, so I my try that. I love the idea of hand knit socks and I'm a comfy sock sort, so one day... one day! ;)

Ah sock knitting, it never disappoints, and there is no such thing as too many hand knit socks!

But remember Tracy that more often than not those pesky ladders disappear after a washing or two!!!
