Oh, Tracey!!! How lovely everything looks!!! I'm crushed I'm going to miss the shower. I was on my way....stopped off in Oxford, MS (you know, I can't pass Square Books without a stop there!!!), and discovered our Living Waters for the World training session was going on; I had to stay. If any group of lovely, giving people would understand---this one most certainly will.
But, I carried my gift with me.....so, for now, all you can have is this photo.
This little ballerina is unnamed because I was sure there would be plenty of opinions in Ginny's household to cover that. And I'm enclosing a little book...because this is yarnalong, right??!? And, just in case new baby finds no use for a bitty girl toy----I'm sure someone else (Beatrix? Larkspur??) might find time to give her a hug or two.
MY books this week? I finished Georgia by Donna Tripp last night and it was OK. It was certainly good enough for me to want to read a real biography on Georgia O'Keeffe, but by far not the best in the historical fiction genre that I've ever read. It was OK. Just OK.
I bought two books on that stop at Square Books....The Reason for Flowers: Their History, Culture, Biology, and How They Change Lives by Stephen Buchmann and The Genius of Birds by Jennifer Ackerman. I think the bird book is going to be next....so I'll be 'exploring the newly discovered brilliance of birds.' On the book cover, one example shared....the mockingbirds and thrashers can store 200 to 2,000 different songs in a brain a thousand times smaller than ours. I'm fascinated...no bird-brains out there. Apparently a species we need to pay much closer attention to.
So, Ginny....hoping you are having the most beautiful day and are enjoying all your gifts. I know the day will be filled with stimulating book discussions and lovely baby things. My virtual one will be coming to you and new baby in the mail when I return home from my 'water week'.
And Tracey....WOW!!! You most certainly know how to throw a party. You thought of everything and everything is BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you so much for inviting me, and know that I was most definitely there with you all in spirit.
Hugs to all!

I am in love with your little nameless doll, and I know she will be much loved.
Safe travels on your trip and I'm glad you could attend in spirit!

Wow, what a wonderful gift. The ballerina could not be cuter and is such a good pairing for the book.

I've never yet knit a doll. Your little one here makes me wonder, "Well, why the heck NOT?" What a fun finish!
Have you read "The Language of Flowers"? It's fiction, but since you picked up the nonfiction Buchmann book, I bet you'd enjoy it. This protagonist has her own unique interpretation for floral history and meanings. A compelling read, I thought.

I still want to take my first ballet class of my life ever...and I am nearing fourty. Hopefully they don't make you wear tights when you take ballet classes after childhood.
