The rain finally stopped, but it's hard to complain about its effect here after watching only a few minutes of national news. My heart goes out to our southern friends dealing with the devastation of flooding. My world turned upside down last year when we had about 18" of standing water in the scary basement (during which time it was referred to as the SCARY basement). This time, fearing the worst, we found ourselves simply wet, not wading. All is good.
To celebrate...
a few flowers. I'd still need hip-boots to tackle the backyard where there are some daffodils blooming. My Blenko vase is waiting for a bouquet.
The birds are starting to nest...
making questionable decisions again this year. The term 'bird-brained' I guess was coined for a reason. You CANNOT tell me bitty bird is comfortable in her new spring abode, but man, does she get feisty every time I pass by (which I have to...to get to my car). It's hers and she's going to protect it, even if her babes will never figure out how to get out.
And then,
there is Boxy, growing rather steadily. She should be finished just in time to put away for our long stretch of heat and humidity.
Yep. It must be spring.
Birds choose the strangest places :)

boxy is looking mighty lovely there. Spring is in the air here too and I love it, yes, even the winter lover in me is excited for a new season. Go figure!

Some birds chose to nest above my laundry ropes. I have to put a cover on my freshly washed clothes so that they don't "make a mess" and I have to rewash them! I like animals but I don't like those birds!
Boxy looks wonderful. Great color.

I love that shade of grey for Boxy. Reminds me of a colorway I used a lot last fall.
And, thank you for the link love earlier this week. I am tickled you think I am funny.

The pollen season is in full force here, yes, it's spring.
So happy you didn't get flooded, my momma couldn't leave her home
for two days, but thank goodness no water inside her home, others
weren't so lucky.
Loving Boxy!

Birds pick the craziest of places! We had some swallows build a nest on the beam above the front door when I was growing up. Then they would attack anyone who came in or out of the front door. After they all left the nest my dad took it down. Crazy days.

Boxy is looking lovely! There's nothing quite like finishing a sweater in time for summer :P I remember when I was in high school, my family left me alone for a week to go on a road trip (I had already been where they were going, and had senior musical rehearsals) and two days before they got home I went to the basement to find three feet of water! Fortunately I had a wonderful neighbor who abandoned his dinner party to go buy me a new sump pump and install it, but the experience has made me very grateful for dry basements!

Boxy is looking good, love the yarn and looks like it is a really comfy wear. Isn't it lovely watching the birds nest - I noticed the blue tits had ventured into our bird box last week for the first time this year.

Wonderful spring post. The warm weather begins now after a week of rain. I can't help but wonder if the rain will return. It seems so fleeting after all these years. Boxy is going to be great. I love the color, looks very wearable!

You inspire me! I really need a grey Boxy now!
Your little bird is adorable--feisty little thing. I am certainly glad we don't have a basement because with the amount of rain we have received this fall/winter it surely would be flooded. Flooding scares me and there have been many rivers around here that have been overflowing.
Happy Spring!
