The 'dusting' of snow turned into this last night. I've been waiting all winter for it!! It's like a fairyland...(on top of a treacherous layer of ice).
While some of you may dream of snowboarding, or skiing, or winter-wonderland hiking on a day like this,
my daydream looks more like this...
It's the year of the sweater for me (remember??!!)....I finished Climb Every Mountain
(where was this style 40+ years ago when I was pregnant??)
last week, and immediately cast on the basic, boring raglan man-sweater that is his favorite....because I know myself too well. While this has been declared the Year of the Sweater, I'll be pretty happy if it turns out just simply to be the Month of the Sweater.
Because, also in that fireside knitting pile is...
the Never Not Knitting mystery shawl KAL...
which shouldn't be there because Clue #1 is finished and I can guiltlessly leave it unattended until next Friday.
Simple, yet Effective Shawl (fingering wt version, although I found some aran weight Noro that I'm using instead---it's also the Year to Use Up Some Weird OddBalls in the Stash)
and in honor of the snow, I'll probably have to cast on..
My dream has me knitting by the fire all day. In reality, after Sunday school, and church, and my library job, and serving the local community theatre dinner....I'll be knitting by that fire for an hour---if I'm lucky.
But I'll be there.
Right there with you... ;-)

I would be right there with you if I could. I am JEALOUS of that snow!!! We have rain rain rain. I love your projects, I started a sweater for me last week :)

We went sledding in the snow this morning and it was fun, but I reeeeally wished I were at home instead. :)

I guess I don't need to tell you just how I feel about your snow! I want to throw my knitting in a suitcase and head your way, make room on the sofa! :)

I do love being outdoors -- but knitting by the fire is just as good!

The sofa's getting crowded but I'm only little. I'll fit.
Brrrr to the snow, I love the pop of cardinal red though!

I hate when reality ruins my dreams! I hope you got some good knitting time in front of that fire. You go on with those sweaters!!

That cardinal in the snow! So gorgeous! I have been meaning to tell you that my mom took a little trip to Cumberland Falls State Park over new year's and had a total blast staying in their little cottages. It looks like a perfect place for a little knitting retreat!

That cardinal in the snow is a great shot! I knit most of the afternoon in front of the fire on Sunday. Good thing, as it hovered close to zero. Keep warm!

Enjoy that cozy knitting. It is the best.

You have some very nice knitting planned! I love some cozy knitting, especially during these cold months. These days, most of my knitting is done on the train during my commute. I hope you are able to manage more than the occasional hour next to the fire!

I love that cardinal in your first shot: we don't get them here in western Canada. I've never actually seen one in the flesh. Congrats on your comfortable, cosy Climb Every Mountain. Heidi Kirrmaier is one of my favourite Ravelry designers (she's from Calgary) and i have several of her patterns waiting to be knitted up. Hope you're getting lots of fireside dreamtime. I had lots over Christmas but being back at work is putting a serious crimp in fireside knitting and reading time. Happy new year.

Thanks, Anne! Happy new year to you, too!!! Love (LOVE!) Heidi's designs!!

Nothing beats staying cozy by the fire with a basketful of knitting on a snowy day, even if it's just for an hour. Love the sweater. Looks very comfy and warm. We are still waiting for our first snow day here in Maryland. Love how pretty it looks but hate driving in it.

I keep saying I am not interested in knitting myself a sweater because I am always so warm....but after reading this post and seeing your Climb Every Mountain? A sweater pattern jumped into my Ravelry faves!
xoxo
