We had a 'snow day' yesterday. Now, honestly, for all intents and purposes, this day was like every other retired kind of day. OK. One meeting I was going to go to got cancelled and the library book sale that I was going to go to was postponed. But, BECAUSE it was a snow day, and the whole town was hunkered down, I decided to allow myself the luxury of sitting in front of the fireplace ALL DAY LONG and knitting---a-l-l d-a-y l-o-o-o-o-n-g. I knit two sleeves for hubby's sweater. Almost 4 balls of yarn. And it was all stockinette in the round....in other words, all KNIT. knit knit knit knit knit knit knit hours of knit knit knit knit knit Even a talking book (The Truth According to Us by Annie Barrows--The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society author) only helped marginally.
But it's finished. (I had put the neckband on the day before.) Done. Ta-Dah. Fini!!!!
I've knit this pattern oodles of times before (at least half a dozen....it's his favorite sweater), and this one replaces another one that was this same colour that he literally wore to shreds. So, of all the colours (I've done self-striping--X2, green, blue, a Noro, and a fancy Prism yarn greenish one, and a similar beige-y yellow) lucky me got to knit the boring yellow-beige twice.
Boring colour, boring pattern, in an aran weight that I find tedious to knit with.
Gosh I love that guy.
:)
I am having a snow day today since I was gone all day yesterday and this morning we did have flurries, even if they melted as soon as they hit the ground.
I am in my pajama's, the fire is going, I've baked and knit, next up, a nap!

Your husband is a lucky, lucky man! I'm sorry you had to knit beige twice, but it's good to know that he will love and wear it!

A perfect day - what a nice warm sweater - perfect for snowy weather. Stay warm and cozy!

Sometimes a boring knitting makes the best day!

Oh I wished I had such a snow day. No snow here, just rain. But I guess rain day knitting also has its own charm, minus the fact that anything gets cancelled.

You are lucky he wears what you knit! He is lucky because you knit him boring sweaters!

That is love! But really what a beautiful sweater. How lovely that he wears his sweaters to bits!

That is such a pretty/handsome sweater- I think simplicity is underestimated...knowing you're fine skills in knittering this could be boring to you- but what a beauty Steph!

Classic and functional. The beige shade is my absolute favorite!

Yes indeed, that's true love! Although I'm kinda loving the simple lines of this one.

It is sort of funny, but I find that the things I find either boring or uninspiring knitting (most anything made with cotton!) are the things that get worn most.

He must be an amazing man!

I wore a sweater in high school that my mom had knit for my dad and I'm not sure he ever wore it. I wore holes in the elbows of that. I have a sweater a kind lady knit for me that never fit well through the chest, but I wore it while I could and love it too much to part with it. There's a lot of emotion knit into things that some people appreciate more than others!

You love him, no doubt, but it sounds as if he truly loves his sweaters too. Well done, despite the hunkering down and the snow-in and your well posted knitting prowess, I'm always impressed with how quickly you turn things around! Fantastic!
