The I-cord edging was applied last night and I'm calling it 'done', in spite of the fact that there are probably a week's worth of ends to tuck in. I can hide them.
I like it.
(oops. you don't see those ends, right? It could also use a good blocking.)
Ever since I laid it out last week and pinned it, and decided I really did like it...
I've been sprinting to the finish line.
(I actually sprinted right by the finish line and made an extra square by mistake. GRRRRRR. Hate when that happens.)
The blocks had languished in indefinite time-out while I decided to like this again. Individually, the blocks just didn't grab me. Big, colorful crosses. Nothing the least bit special.
But once they were all put together..
they took on the look of an Amish quilt. I'm rather smitten.
And, so is my friend.
I love it!

Isn't it great how something you have labored over for a long time finally comes through? It's a beautiful blanket and very "Amish-worthy"! Have a happy day, k

I love it! Could you make a small pillow with the extra block?

I love it! It came together so well, and looks so cozy and wonderful for chilly weather! I hate weaving in ends on blankets, though-there are always so many! But it totally looks worth all the effort it took :) Well done!

The colours that you've chosen are just fab, they make a real splash. I love it!

I agree with Freddy and wish I could curl up in it! It's a beauty Steph!

Beautifully done...you'll have to block and frame the extra piece! :)

I truly think this is one of the most beautiful, different, unusual items I've ever seen. I love it and would love to be able to look at it every day - lucky you! What a treasure....

Sometimes the whole really does exceed the sum of the parts. I can see why this didn't seem special until you put the whole thing together!

It is just beautiful!

I love it also!
Had the same idea about using the extra block for a pillow. Though, I would probably change the color combo to dark cross, color border.

Hit post too soon (hate it when that happens).
The I-cord edge sets it off perfectly.

You should be smitten - it's stunning. Better to make an extra square than to be short one! I would say to enjoy weaving those ends in but I don't know how much fun that may or may not be.

It is stunning. Now, I must add it to my list of projects that need to be made. So very beautiful, no wonder your lovely friend is hanging out on it :-) Also - what pattern is the scarf that you are wearing in your profile picture? I love it. I'll check your ravelry page to see if it's there, but thought I'd ask while I was thinking about it.
Happy Monday!

That is just an incredible piece of work, it's gorgeous! I can see why knitting the individual crosses might not be too exhilarating, but together it's really a masterpiece.

That turned out so so well! Beautiful. It looks like you will have to fight for it's warmth though, hehe.

Holy Cow! That is fantastic. I do have some Kauni and I did buy that pattern....

It is lovely. Maybe the extra block needs to grow a bit and be a pillow? You know, so Freddy can rest his sweet little head/eat it.
