Remember this? Ready to see what's inside???
Yarn for this!
The Tokyo Shawl by Marianne Isager...using Isager yarns, of course.
If you are looking for something buttery soft, this shawl is NOT for you. Granted, the brownish alpaca is held throughout the project and will soften the Spinni wool, which is a very wooly-wool. My favorite kind of wool. In fact, if I could only knit with one kind of yarn, this is the yarn I would choose. I love it. I love the stitch definition; I love the weight; I love the warmth; but most of all, I love the colors. (and for a person who considers grey the only color really worth knitting...this is saying A LOT.)
I even broke out my antique swift to wind the yarn! (only very very special yarn gets wound on this....)
(Love the worn, faded flowers.)
Cast on? Not yet.
I'm not done looking at it.
It's a good thing I live so far away or I would be sitting on your porch yarn gazing! I promised I was going to knit from my stash, but after seeing your photo I might just change my mind.

I love these yarn pictures, and the swift makes me have some envy. This whole post is just lovely to look at.
But HOW did I not know to put my lables in the middle of my yarn cakes? I usually put them together in a ziplock bag--not very aesthetically pleasing when you like the looks of vintage things, but it keeps Steve the cat from stealing it. I then often proceed to lose the label half way through a project, or after I start and discard one, or I just lose it for no good reason.
Thanks for letting us see your goodies, can't wait to see the finished objects (someday--no pressure).

oh my gosh, the COLOURS!! This is going to be so freaking beautiful!! I'm interested to hear if the yarn softens after blocking/wearing. The alpaca will help, no doubt!

That shawl is going to be GORGEOUS! Can't wait to see the progress. In the meantime, I don't blame you for needing some simple yarn-appreciation time.

You have the best eye for picking shawl patterns. We're having a very stormy Saturday and a woolly wool shawl sounds heavenly right about now.

Lovely colors! I can't wait to see your work on it...also agree that gray is probably my favorite color to wear, but I haven't knit much with it...I should remedy that :)

Oh that swift! And I am with you. I love wooly wool. I've made the stole from Wearwithall in the Isager yarn and I love it. Enjoy the knitting. And loved the photos of the night blooming flower ( I want to say Cerberus and KNOW that isn't right.)

There are no words for how much I love everything in this post!
The yarn of course is beautiful and I am with you, as it is my favorite type of yarn to knit with.
Now that antique winder made my jaw drop on the floor. Wow~

I'm sorry, is it rude of me to read and drool at the same time? LOL. The yarn is beautiful as is the pattern. But I'm still playing shawl catch-up! Too many lovely things to do. Can't wait to watch this one grow too.
