I was catching up with Tien (an enabler extraordinaire) when she mentioned the third fringeassociation hat knitalong. Hey. I downloaded that pattern. (hmmmmm. it's around here somewhere.)
Found it. Worsted. (eeewww) I haven't been in the worsted 'suitcase' in a long time. What a mess. (that's probably why.) Finally found a skein of something, but I fought a bagillion partial skeins that had wound themselves into a big globby mess. Half skeins, quarter skeins, bitty-bit skeins...all jumbled together. (hee hee....idea!) Called my friend who is making a mitered square worsted weight blanket and she was thrilled to take my debris. (I didn't tell her they were mostly grey, beige, and black.)
A giant shopping bag full---delivered---made a whole lot of room in the suitcase. Plenty of room now for the worsted/aran/bulky from the knitting closet. Yep. Cleaned off a couple shelves.
What are those knitting books doing, living with the gardening books? Moved them to the empty shelves. Better.
Might as well clean out the whole bookcase, now that the knitting books relocated. (there's that cookbook I've been looking for!)
And then I moved to the kitchen....
and cleaned counters, rearranged drawers (I only have 2), created space for some things that still needed a home after the scary-basement flood, and hauled a few things to the attic (because a tiny shelf and a chair from the kitchen landed in the craft room, which, of course, meant that THAT room got tossed, too)
All because I decided to knit this.
Really quick knit. (one baseball game quick)
Hermaness by Gudrun Johnson, a free pattern she supplied for the Fingeassociation knitalong.
Hey, I downloaded that hat. I'd go knit it right now, but I' afraid starting might make me clean like you did....can't risk that!

Ha, ha, ha. I'm impressed that you even HAD worsted weight yarn since I know any needle above a 4 is not your thing.
I have that pattern in my files, but haven't cast on yet. I have got to finish Emerson's pullover so that is what I am going to work on tonight while I watch really bad tv...sharknado 3 is on again!

You are a fast knitter! There is no way I could get that much done during one game.
I SO need to declutter. That was supposed to be my summer project, but I have to say that it is not going well. Actually, it's not going at all.
Maybe I'll steal some inspiration from you!

Missions accomplished! And what lightening-fast knitting! But, I'm surprised you had any worsted too... LOL... ;o) I rarely go above DK anymore. It's interesting how our fiber fanaticking grows and changes. Well done for cracking down on clutter--I'm all for that! :o) Happy Days, Steph ((HUGS))

Hey, that's a really nice hat and if it forced you to commit acts of housekeeping, so much the better. :)

I have one basket of worsted all in skeins, I rarely have worsted left overs :) I knit too much with fingering weight wool. Love your hat!

I loved your hilarious account of what you went through to knit that hat! It looks fantastic, and hooray for destashing and getting a bit more organized.

Hahaha! LOVE your hermaness hat - that colour would look so wonderful against a palette of greys, beiges and blacks ; ) I'm wishing you lived a little closer to me though, so you could hold my hand down a few rabbit holes of my own! Big hugs to you. XO
