Reading: Ann Patchett's The Magician's Assistant. One review has said this is one of her best. But, to tell you .... it's the story of a gay magician's assistant who has been in love with the magician her whole life, who eventually marries him after his partner dies---just months before he dies, after which she discovers the man she married is a total stranger with deep dark secrets.... would you really believe it IS one of her best? Trust me. It's good.
Knitting: Twinleaf by Grace Anna Farrow. Another lovely large shawl that is hardly started.
Neither is getting much attention. It's a Living Waters for the World training week---with 60 students and 16 instructors; set-up is nearly complete...
and now the fun begins!!!
Have I read Ann before? Not sure, but will have to read this one.
Have fun at training!

I've enjoyed the Ann Patchett books I've read so far - Bel Canto (my fav) and State of Wonder. If I come across this one, I'll pick it up.

I've made one of Grace's shawls - gigantic but worth it! Good luck with your training!

You make a good sell for the book, but I think it might make me bonkers. I love that shawl though. I clicked on the link and my face fell ... OF COURSE you would send me to lace-weight, ha! But really it's so beautiful, I'd give it a go. Maybe this summer? One of the advantages of lace-weight, is it's not too warm to knit, right?
Sounds like the training session is supporting a good cause! Kudos to you :)

That storyline just sounds insane! I've never read anything by Ann Pratchett, but I think I have one of her books on my shelf somewhere. I should give it a try!

I'd put the book in my queue but it is getting rather large and I'm not sure I'd ever get to it, but it does sound interesting!

Hi Steph, the doily on my table was created by my grandma years and years ago! It's one of my treasures! :)

The book really does sound intriguing... and I so love the earthy colours that you favour for your knitting. Beautiful!
Hope you have fun at the training!

Twinleaf is going to be lovely! I have a large Stephen West shawl on the needles but have laid it aside and need to pick it back up again...too many wips! I have not read Patchett in ages-and have had Bel Canto on my radar for quite some time.
Hope your week is going swimmingly.....
