We went to visit our son and his family.....our daughter and her two boys came with us. Our whole family (minus our SIL who had to work...bummer) together for 48 hours.
We went to a ballgame....
where we knitted....(she's very well trained...never leave home without your knitting)
where my embroidery got taken over by another knitter who left hers at home....not so well trained....
I found a home for my shwook...
we had piano concerts, birthday cake, some impromptu Halloween scary plays.....assorted knitting that needed rescuing since our last visit, and the now-4-year old birthday girl's declaration that she was now old enough to knit, and she did (sort of).
I'm 5 for 5 (knitters) in that family.
On the way home (a long 5 hour drive in the car)....my remaining two non-knitters decided they were finally bored enough to give it a try...
(note the blue lips sort of match his shirt....he actually put his slurpy down long enough to learn and knit a bookmark!)
(I showed his brother how to hold the needles and move the yarn....he asked to see it again....then promptly devised this bizarre technique and literally flew through two skeins of yarn and made a scarf for his mom.)
Seven grandchildren. Seven knitters.
My stash will be in good hands.
My heart swells for you Steph, what GRAND grandchildren you have there, all knitters! From one grandmother to another, a big hug!

That's the ticket to finished project--get family to help you! ;o) So glad you had a great time with you dear ones, Steph--fun to see! And fun to catch up with you after some days offline. ((HUGS))

Is that last technique so bizarre? I definitely do that with those giant needles, and I always have done so with straights most of my life. Part of the reason I don't use straights unless absolutely necessary....
at the thought of all the grandchildren carrying on the legacy!

Nothing like young knitters- it's the best. How awesome that you are passing that down to them.
Love his little blue lips- too cute.

You are just creating knitters left and right! Hands down the best is the last pic of the little devising his own technique. It is kind of like cottage knitting. Brilliant!

you are doing quite well! I can only hope and dream for grandchildren who knit..one day!! I hope so.. Love the chunky needles, I don't think I own a pair that huge.

So impressed. Great weekend, and excellent job with the knitting training. I think this might be the winter I get my Kid trained up too. :)

Okay, clearly I have to pull up my socks in the grannie department and knit more for my two grandkids: you've raised the bar pretty darn high! The elder is only four and has a hard time sitting still for two minutes, so I think he's not yet due for knitting lessons. In the meantime, I have another post up with more progress on my Hitofude: http://shintanglestudio.typepad.com/blog/2014/09/a-new-project-and-the-rock-creek-fall-fair-heavy-horse-games-part-one.html.

Oh this is wonderful Steph. You must have had an amazing time...what a shame about the minus one. Maybe next time.

Hi Steph: Thank you so much for looking at my latest post and praising my latest quilt reveal. And thanks too for being such a great cheerleader on the Hitofude journey! I always sit up a little straighter and feel proud of myself after reading one of your shout-outs on my progress. I'm sorry I put the wrong URL in my comment above: I know that you found today's post, but perhaps someone else reading comments here might not. The correct address is http://shintanglestudio.typepad.com/blog/2014/10/circus-quilt.html. Thank you for all that you do here on your blog: you inspire me!

7 for 7! How awesome is that! And what a treasure of a stash they will have access to. (I'm 0 for 3, but still holding out hope, especially when my youngest niece asked my advice on knitting her own beanie today)

Wow! A dream weekend for SURE! Love to see all those little knitters hard at work. xo

Catching up here. Brilliant that you have all 7 of them knitting! I will have to do the same when my grandkids come along, that way I won't need to worry about making arrangements for my stash in the event of my death!
