I learned more WWII history in these two days than in all my history classes in school. Dramatic, devastating, horrific, humbling...
The beaches....Omaha, Utah, Pointe du Hoc, Arromanches...the monuments, the museums...
Sainte Mere Eglise
The cemeteries...
German...
I think PapaGeek and his buddy could have spent another two or three days soaking up the history. But, by the end of day 2...
I was taking pictures like these.
It was time to go 'shelling' on the beach.
When we were at the museum in 1996, the lady at the cash register ask if our fathers served, when we said they did, she ask us to thank them for her. It was a very enlightening and humbling experience. Both Randy and I were surprised at how emotional we felt at the cemeteries.

The unknown soldiers graves are the saddest ever. Very solemn visit and thank you for sharing with me.

Great pics Stephanie. A gut wrenching place. You did it justice.

Oh. My. After just reading the monuments men and knowing what they did to save some of the churches around there... and now you're there... Maybe that will be our next big trip. Did you fly to Paris and then go up?

My Daddy would have loved to see all of that, wow! We have so much to be thankful for.
I spent all day at the beach today, it was wonderful!
