A few weeks (months?) ago I made some Owl puffs. They were fun to make and I decided to make more (and more). I've got a plan for them, but it's sort of a surprise, so I'll save that for later. In making these cute little critters, I quickly ran out of appropriate sized buttons for the eyes. (NOTE: like my yarn collection, I have NOT run out of buttons....just black/grey/blue eye-sized buttons!!!!)
So today, I meandered to Hobby Lobby; rejected the buttons in the sewing department--too expensive. Rejected the buttons in the craft section--too colorful. BUT, the buttons in the scrapbooking section was JUST RIGHT!!! (Did you know to look there? I sure didn't--very helpful worker-person directed me. BIG bag of assorted buttons--and it looked like there were a bunch of black and grey ones in the bag. PERFECT.)
Look at all of them. There are enough "eyes" in there for dozens and dozens of owls.
But there is so much more......
Sparkly ones....
Fun ones....
(have you ever seen a tent button? or a pretzel? or a set of spoons????)
BUT, here was the real treasure.........
27 of them.... (TWENTY-SEVEN!!!!)
SWEATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you hear me squealing with delight?! How prefect Stephanie, just perfect! I never would have
thought to look in the scrapbook section, but I will remember that tip.
I have a jar of buttons that I have kept for years. All the kid's like to play and sort them. There is just something about buttons...little works of art!

Oh my! Those are adorable! My mother-in-law collects buttons. She has some incredible antique ones that I'd love to get my hands on.

Oh...meandering can be a dangerous enterprise! :) I have to say I went looking in Joann's not that long ago for a big button and was shocked at how $ buttons have become. I've been known to scout out thrift stores just for the buttons on garments.
