This is my computer, Dell. He looks like a computer, but unfortunately, hasn't acted like one in a very, very , very long time. We haven't been on good terms for quite a while. He's slow. No, he's S--L--O--W. I'm so glad I'm a knitter....when I download a picture, I can always knit 4 or 5 rows of anything before the picture loads. Start up??? Boot it up--go get breakfast, knit a couple rows, do a load of laundry...get the idea?
PapaGeek has messed with him some, and for a very brief time, I couldn't get the laundry loaded, which I found a great improvement. It didn't last.
In hopes of speeding things up, I've moved almost all my pictures to a jump drive, deleted all my audiobooks and all my music. What's left???????????????? I have no documents on him.
The proverbial straw came yesterday after day 1 of my new photography class. As a student, we get a great "deal" on Photoshop (which is of course, a total mystery to me but I understand it is quite amazing). It's not going to do me a lick of good if I can't load it on my computer (takes up quite a bit of space apparently). Dell, here, doesn't even want to download my pictures from my camera any more. Honestly, I think he's just being lazy. Obviously, he's not using his space effectively. The time has come....he got unplugged and dragged to the local Geek Squad.
My assigned "geek" took one look at Dell, and I could tell he was trying real hard not to laugh. We chatted---how can a kid know so darn much about computers???? He wanted to know how I used the computer....what I really wanted from it....and pretty much said it simply wasn't going to ever happen with Dell. He and I just must part company. (Hurray!)
We took his suggestion and came home and ordered Mac(Pro). I'm excited. Dell, obviously, is not. Since coming home, he has now refused to allow me to comment on anyone's blog. Seriously, I've tried over and over--multiple blogs. At first I thought it was one of his usual glitches, but I've tried everything, and no go. He also has "stuck" the ENTER key which is not making me happy either. (Obviously, he's throwing a temper tantrum. Or pouting. Or both.)
I've tried to tell him he is going to be much happier in his new home playing computer games with the grandboys. They were made for each other. They won't yell at him. They won't threaten him. They won't shed tears over his apathy and quirky ways--in fact, they'll probably love all that.
I'm just hoping Dell is going to buck up and hang in with me for a few more posts. If not, I'll be back when I figure out Mac. (SHHHHH. Mac's been shipped. Don't tell Dell.)
oh how exciting, i hope you'll love your new mac! i'm sorry poor dell is being retired, but i hope he'll find happiness in his new role too.
good luck in your photo class, i'm excited to see what you'll be learning.

Oh, mercy!! I'll be interested to hear how you like your Mac. And, yep, some of that wasn't dear old Dell. LOL! Falsly accused. LOL! I hate having computer trouble (because I only know enough about them to barely USE them). Hope you love your new one! blessings ~ tanna

Hahaha! *clears throat* I'm sorry. Poor Dell! But yes, I think he will be happier with the kids.
Good luck with your new baby, Mac.

Have fun with your new mac and please share how you like it. I have been toying with the idea of buying one, but am not sure.
