The Black Friday tradition around here is always the same....the turkeys come down and the Santas come out (along with all the other Christmas 'stuff'!) And every year the same thing happens....some things some how go AWOL. One year it was the 'favorite' Santas (they were eventually found in the padded box marked Christmas glasses; last year baby Jesus in the manger never did surface. This year? It appears that most of my 'handmades' (six knit stockings, a favorite 'knitter' needlepoint ornament, an embroidered sampler, and who knows what else....)were put in a really good, safe place. I just don't remember where.
A friend has a really great (or so I thought) storage system....she puts things away close to where she uses them. Since creative storage in this little house is a necessity, I thought this idea was brilliant. The only problem for me is that I never (NEVER!) put things in the same place two years in a row. So, I spent yesterday on a scavenger hunt. It was sort of fun at first, but I got over that real quick.
I think best while I'm knitting...and it REALLY wouldn't be Christmas without at least some handmades around, so I grabbed some red bulky something and made this. It took about an hour to make....most of which seemed to be spent in trying to jam a glass ornament in the ball. (The instructions say to stuff with fiberfill.) I had no hand-knit epiphany.
But I think I might know where baby Jesus is!!!
