Papa Geek's foster elephant is a little boy (most likely less than a year old), named Tundani--for the region in which he was found roaming alone.......and mine is Ajabu, a little girl, her name meaning 'mystery'; she was found following the tour vans on the Tsavo East National Park reserve, thought to be only a couple days old, momma no where to be found--both now rescued and happily living in the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust outside Nairobi.
There are sweet videos of all the elephants and rhinos offered for foster care....the one of Ajabu just stole my heart.....the way she follows her keeper around and the way he shelters her with her own little blanket to keep her back from getting sunburned and rubs sun screen on her baby elephant ears.
We are scheduled to visit the Trust right before we come home.....it's a members only visit, so hopefully I'll be able to take up-close and personal photos of our 'babies'!
65 days.....but who's counting?!
(It was much easier finding adoptive homes and relocating these guys!)
