It's easy to be thankful for the 'big stuff': family, freedom, food, faith, clean water, health...but every once in a while I get smacked in the head with some of the 'smaller stuff'.
I was merrily meandering around blogland (mainly yarnalong posts) yesterday morning, glanced up, and discovered I'm late. Seriously late. For yoga. Drat. This new back-in-the-class time slot just hasn't made my mental schedule. As I flew around the house like an old-time movie, I kept thinking....surely, I could miss today (hardly anyone knows I'm back in the class, so I won't be missed by anyone, except----the yoga-Nazi, who, by the way, is very very knit-worthy and I really do like a lot but would like better if she would count faster)....but that stubborn streak kicked in, and as much as I currently really hate everything about this class, I still want to be there.
OK. Grabbed my coat, my keys, found two matching shoes (!), oops---almost forgot the grands' library books (might as well go to work afterwards), threw a cookie at Fred, and I was out the door. The clock in the car said 7:24 and unlike every clock in the house which all seem to have a mind of their own---this clock is usually right-on. I've got 6 minutes to get downtown (that's two stop signs, 6 stop lights, and a school zone) and the whole way I'm thinking about how lucky I am to live in such a small town.
Without seriously exceeding the speed limit....the road I used is patrolled faithfully in the mornings with the school zone in the mix....I pulled up in front of the studio as the clock just flipped to 7:30. It wasn't overly crowded this morning (my absence would have been noticed)---threw my mat down.....and I was down-dogging it by c-o-u-n-t 5. Phew.
We've lived in major metropolitan areas--where 'downtown' meant at least a half hour commute if not longer. A 5 mile trip in congested traffic could add up to serious wasted minutes....and those minutes add up to hours pretty quickly. Hours I can now use for stuff I love to do.
Yes. I'm very thankful.

There is something very nice about being able to make those trips in just a few minutes! ;) Kudos to you for making it out the door!! blessings ~ tanna
ps yes, that is my sweet CONSERVATIVE daughter who didn't deem the Dreambird as worthy of heirloom status. LOL! I told her she might have to rethink that... she looked good wearing it. ;)

This is so why I want to move. I want that time. And I can relate to not wanting to go. I bet you are glad you did though!

I am also very thankful to live in the same small town! It is a wonderful place to live!

I live in a small town and love everything! Now the shopping is lacking and everybody loves to know everyone's business but you get that in a small town.

Small town life sounds good. Living in the middle of nowhere is also good, but it takes so much longer to get anywhere!

I grew up in a small town and still live there. I love it. I told my husband I'd only move if we went to another small town or out in the middle of no where.
