First FO of the new year is a 2012 hanger-on-er.... basic socks that were done lickety-split after changing from pointy metal needles to blunt plastic (yuck, you say?? me, too, usually!) ones. Now that they are finished....I like them, and they were a nice interlude from the mitered square blanket, and they are tucked away for Christmas 2013 (hoping I remember where I stash them!).
A couple more rows were added to the blanket this week. Ten completed--dozens more to go. The fact that I needed yet another break from it was not a particularly good sign for finishing any time soon!!
Hearts!! Sewed one on to a little card for a friend's birthday. The rest might become Valentine cards?
My book is The Pig Did It by Joseph Caldwell. An American runs off to visit his aunt who lives in Ireland when an unrequited infatuation goes sour; he encounters a runaway pig before he even makes it to his aunt's house----and thus begins the mayhem. The back cover says: 'You will laugh your arse off!' So far, my 'arse' is still very much in tact, but I'm not very far into it yet. (It was another penny book from Amazon, so I'm most defintely not complaining!!!) I'll probably finish it-- nothing else on my shelves is calling to me, but I'm betting it's not one I'll be recommending!

oh my gosh steph, the blanket is going to be an heirloom, it's really lovely!

I cannot believe that you already have a gift for this coming Christmas! Gosh you are good. Glad that you are finished with that yarn and those blunt needles. I prefer super metally sharp ones. Your blanket is getting lovelier every time I see it. The hearts are cute too.

Your blanket is just one layer from being a quilt. It is beautiful!! I love the heart. What a wonderful Valentine. Have a wonderful warm day. Matt spent some time with us in Florida last week (Mandy was hosting a friend from college) and we had a wonderful visit! Happy New Year!!

Those socks turned out beautifully! And, you know I LOVE that blanket... even if it is going to take awhile. ;) Sweet heart cards, they are going to bring smiles to some faces. Hope you are "laughing your arse off" by now. LOL! blessings ~ tanna

Those little hearts are adorable! I'm also falling in love with your blanket. I don't know that I'll ever do one though. I'll just admire yours.

I absolutely love your blanket, oh my goodness Stephanie, it is so beautiful!
And hearts on cards would make the great Valentine's cards, I think I may copy that idea here.
Hope you are warm, safe and smiling!

Woo Hoo for finished socks and a gift to boot! And I think I may try the hearts for valentines day. Only probably is that I may need more than my interest in the project will allow. One question for you, when making gift socks, do you have specific recipients in mind? If not, how do you know how big to make them?
