Three hours from home is one of the wonders of the natural world.... a constant 54 degrees....390+ miles of underground beauty; it was a perfect place to be on another dog day of summer.
Mammoth Caves is the longest cave system in the world. We saw about 2 miles of it, so I guess we have reason to return.
The grands did a bit of "mining" and sifted out all kinds of treasures.
We saw 2 of the 4 blue holes. We took a boat ride through a "young" cave that is still being formed by it's river. No walking tours for the next gazillion years here.
We played outlaw a bit. Then, strolled until the heat got us all.
We ended our little adventure here.
No cameras, no phones, no purses, no sandals....so I didn't get a picture of the car at the entrance to the plant.
$179,000.00 price tag-----seats only two, gets 17 miles per gallon, and as far as I can tell, still has to respect the highway speed limits. Could someone explain this to me. (I drive a Prius....I really don't get it.)

That place is soo cool! The caves, not the Corvette plant, though my husband would disagree...he's all about cars. Maybe he could explain it to you, though I'm not sure. I think it's a guy thing. Gorgeous pictures, by the way.

I want to go there someday! My parents camped near there for their honeymoon and the caves were part of their trip. What fun!

I hope I can be as fun of a grandma as you are! We have penn's caves about 2 hours away and have been once. It is quite chilly in there. Boat tours only. They have the biggest gift shop I've ever seen with anything imaginable.

What an adventure, I would love to come play outlaw and see all the sights.
Not sure about the car thing at all. All my guys drive trucks and I gave up my Jeep years ago.

I am very much not a car person. I just need something to get me from A to B. $179K is crazy! Love the caves. If I think about it, they freak me out a bit, but they are so amazing.

Sounds fun! I love visiting caves. Although I'm a little freaked out that G might want to do extreme spelunking or something equally dangerous when he grows up. The kid has no sense of caution and more than his fair share of adventuring.
